Transformational LeadershipMarie Antoinette Smith, M. ED has 15 + years of educational and counseling experiences which include teaching students with mild to severe disabilities and disturbances, college counselor, peer mediator coordinator, and special education department chair. She earned her Master’s in Education from Regent University, and her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Special Education from Old Dominion University.
Marie also received a professional certification in Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disturbance from Old Dominion. She is currently teaching at Stonewall High School in Manassas, Virginia where she is developing a program for students with severe autism. She is also the Junior Varsity Head Basketball Coach and a Class Lady mentor. As an educator and a counselor, Marie is continuously seeking creative ways to facilitate opportunities for growth and to foster autonomy, and to empower her students and others in a dynamic learning environment.
Marie has been a member of Faith Christian Church and International Outreach Center (FCCIOC) for 18+ years. She is a member of FCCIOC’s praise and worship team ministry. She also has been involved as a youth leader and volunteered with food distribution. Marie is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Golden Key International Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and National Education Association. She has received numerous awards and acknowledgements as a professional and from her community. She is the mother of Ian C. Lansdowne, Fauquier High teacher, track coach, and track standout. Family
